Premier League Gameweek 37: Title Race, Top-Five Battle and Everything Still on the Line

With just two matchdays remaining, the 2025/26 Premier League season has entered full chaos mode. Gameweek 37 has already produced major twists, huge goals and pressure-packed results and the remaining fixtures could still decide the title, European qualification and relegation places.

The Title Race: Arsenal vs Manchester City

The Premier League title race remains finely balanced heading into the final stretch of the season. Arsenal sit top of the table on 79 points, two ahead of Manchester City on 77, and every remaining fixture now carries enormous pressure.

Arsenal began their Gameweek 37 schedule at the Emirates Stadium against Burnley. Knowing anything less than victory would hand momentum back to City. Mikel Arteta’s side have been relentless at home this season and, against a Burnley side stuck near the bottom of the table, the Gunners were overwhelming favourites.

Burnley have struggled defensively throughout the campaign and their away form has been among the worst in the league. Arsenal’s attacking fluency and control in midfield should simply prove too much.

Prediction: Arsenal 3–0 Burnley. Arsenal’s quality and home dominance should see them comfortably retain top spot heading into the final weekend.

Manchester City, meanwhile, travel to the south coast to face an AFC Bournemouth side that has quietly been one of the stories of the season. Bournemouth have collected 55 points and pushed themselves firmly into the European conversation thanks to their aggressive pressing style and fearless attacking football.

City remain favourites, but this is far from straightforward. The Vitality Stadium has become an awkward venue for top sides and Bournemouth have consistently troubled possession-based teams this year.

Still, when the pressure rises, Pep Guardiola’s side usually find solutions.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1–2 Manchester City. Expect Bournemouth to make life uncomfortable, but City’s experience in title races should carry them through.

If both sides win as expected, Arsenal would remain two points clear heading into Gameweek 38, setting up a dramatic final day.

The Fight for the Top Five

Manchester United and Aston Villa have put themselves in strong positions heading into the final fortnight, but the battle for Champions League and Europa League places is still wide open.

United’s comeback win over Nottingham Forest was one of the games of the weekend. Trailing during stages of the match, they showed resilience and attacking quality to fight back for a 3–2 victory that may prove crucial in securing third place.

However, a difficult trip to Brighton still awaits in Gameweek 38 and that fixture could yet influence the final standings.

Aston Villa produced arguably the standout performance of Gameweek 37 by beating Liverpool 4–2 at Villa Park. Unai Emery’s side were clinical on the counterattack and exposed Liverpool repeatedly in transition.

That result was massive for Villa’s Champions League ambitions and simultaneously damaging for Liverpool. Who now face a nervy final week of the season.

Liverpool remain fifth on 59 points and still have a home fixture against Brentford to come. Anfield should provide the perfect stage for a response. But there is now a real possibility that the Reds fall short of the Champions League places.

Prediction: Liverpool 2–1 Brentford. Liverpool should bounce back at home, although it may ultimately arrive too late to change the bigger picture.

Chelsea vs Tottenham: Pride, Pressure and a London Derby

One of the headline fixtures of the week sees Chelsea host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in a London derby loaded with pressure.

Chelsea have endured another inconsistent campaign but still sit above Spurs in the table. Tottenham, meanwhile, have suffered a disastrous season by their standards and find themselves uncomfortably close to the relegation places heading into the final weeks.

Spurs have struggled defensively all season and continue to concede goals in key moments. Chelsea, despite their inconsistency, have at least shown flashes of attacking quality at Stamford Bridge.

Derbies are rarely predictable, but current form slightly favours the home side.

Prediction: Chelsea 2–1 Tottenham. Expect a chaotic and emotional match, with Chelsea’s attacking depth giving them the edge late on.

The Relegation Battle

At the bottom of the table, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley are running out of time.

Wolves’ recent draw against Fulham did little to improve their situation. While Burnley’s difficult trip to Arsenal leaves them staring at relegation unless results elsewhere somehow swing in their favour.

The pressure at the bottom has been relentless all season and both clubs now appear to need miracles to survive.

If Arsenal stumble on the final day and City win out, the title race could still swing dramatically toward the Etihad. Goal difference may even become decisive.
